Cloud Solutions Benefits

23 January, 2020

A lot of companies are moving to the cloud nowadays for a number of different reasons. Some are doing to centralize their systems and others are doing so to streamline their processes. There are certainly many cloud solutions benefits to choose from.

In 2017, Wikibon predicted that enterprise cloud spending will have a compound annual growth of 16% from 2016 to 2026. Furthermore, it predicted that Amazon Web Services (AWS) will reach a revenue of $43 billion.

Industry forecasting also showed that certain industries will spend the most on cloud computing. The top three industries are: discrete manufacturing, professional services, and banking.

The following are some Cloud Solutions benefits that have been reported from people who have migrated to the cloud:

1. Cost Savings

Cost savings is one of the main cloud solutions benefits. Relying on on-premises servers means that those servers would need to be replaced every few years.

However, cloud computing makes it easier to manage your budget. Not only do you not have to worry about replacing expensive servers, you will also have choices in how much you pay. What’s more, some cloud solutions providers even have pay-as-you-go options, giving you more flexibility for your budget.

2. Accessibility

One of the main advantages of migrating to the cloud, of course, is that employees are able to access their work from anywhere. This type of mobility helps drive productivity.

More importantly, having the data available on the cloud means that employees can also access their work through their mobile phone. This makes the work highly accessible, even when workers are on-the go or even while they’re in a meeting with a client—or event at a networking event.

This certainly makes life much easier for teams that often would travel, particularly sales teams.

3. Scalability

Switching to the cloud offers you the flexibility to easily scale up or down according to what your business needs may be. For businesses that have fluctuating demands, migrating to the cloud is a great solution, as it gives them the ability to opt for higher or lower bandwidth.

With on-premises servers, upscaling would mean having to purchase new servers and possibly finding rooms for those servers and sorting out the maintenance for them.

4. Disaster Recovery

Disaster recovery is absolutely vital for companies. The loss of years and years of data can be absolutely devastating. In fact, more than 90% of companies who don’t have Disaster Recovery in place end up closing down in the span of one year after the loss of data.

Cloud solutions services have backups in case of large-scale data losses. Furthermore, this will also be useful even if the data loss was not due to server error but due to software or computer error. While an employee’s computer may break down, they will still be able to access their work through other devices.

5. Collaboration

Teams today tend to be very international as well as mobile. By migrating to the cloud, it will make it easier for teams from different parts of the world to collaborate with each other.

However, this isn’t only valid for international teams. This is equally useful for teams in different regions or even teams that are in different departments.

According to Report Linker, the global cloud computing market is set to reach over $600 billion by 2023. The trend suggests that more and more companies will be migrating to the cloud.

All in all, it seems there are now more and more reasons to migrate to the cloud.
